About

Matt Grogan

Builder and writer of marchmatness.

marchmatness is one place for the record of the NCAA Division I wrestling championships, every bracket and bout since 1928, and for the articles written from it. It is made for the people who need a fact they can trust before they go on air or to print: broadcasters, writers and podcast hosts, and the fans who want the story behind a bracket.

[Two or three sentences in Matt's own words: his background in data and in wrestling, and why this site exists.]

Two things hold the site together. First, the record is verified and corrected in the open: brackets are checked against the archived sheets, and every change is logged with its evidence. Second, the writing is checked against the record: every number in an article comes from the data, and every other claim from a published source that has been read. The Methods page says how, including where AI is used in the editorial work and where it is not.

Using the record

Pages have permanent addresses, so a bracket, a wrestler's career or an article can be linked and cited directly. If you quote a number on air or in print, a link back to the page is appreciated but not required.

marchmatness is an independent, fan-built project and is not affiliated with the NCAA, any school, or the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, whose archived bracket sheets make the verification possible.
